K&S OFFICES
ATHENS, GREECE

The K&S office building was designed for the Kotzias – Stamatopoulos soils engineering firm. It is located on a corner site below the hill of Lycabetus and overlooks the northwest part of Athens.

The slope of the site made possible two entrances at different levels. There are three superstructure levels on the higher street and five on the descending side street, all housing engineering and executive offices. On the basement levels have been placed state-of-the-art soils laboratories as well as ancillary facilities.

Both façades of the building have a simple grid of exposed concrete structural elements with window infills. There are no stand-out colours, the intent being to have two almost uniform, colourwise, external skins broken only by the right angle at the corner of the building. The firm’s logo has been highlighted in the form of lettering recessed into the exposed concrete surface of a wall at the side of the main entrance.
